The flu.  Influenza, H1N1, H3N2, no matter its aliases it all equates to physical misery.  The beginning of  2018 is a flu virus season of new proportions causing hundreds upon thousands of hospitalizations and hundreds of fatalities in the U.S.  Symptoms of muscle aches, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, fevers of more than 100 degrees and inflammation from relentless coughing are events many flu victims dread. There are those who run to local pharmacies for over the counter drugs for flu relief.  Other people prefer holistic options from Mother Nature’s pharmacy of healing medicinal herbs to combat influenza’s many names.  


Facts and Figures on the Flu Virus

The Center for Disease Control is a source of influenza information in the United States.  The flu season:

  • Begins between October and November
  • Peaks between December and February
  • Ends as late as May
  • It results in 9.2 million to 36 million illnesses a year in the U.S. since 2010

Because there are different strains of the flu the recommended vaccinations offered are less effective in preventing the virus depending on its strain.
